Lighting concept of the Hotel Sonnenalp Resort in the Alpine Skiing World Cup venue of Ofterschwang

In Ofterschwang, deep in the Allgau Mountains, lies a holiday paradise that has something for everyone. Luxury, variety and a family atmosphere set hearts racing in both travellers and locals alike.

The principles upon which the Fäßler family built the Sonnenalp were established back in 1919: hospitality, well-being and relaxation. The third generation of Fäßlers developped the Sonnenalp into a luxurious family resort. Alongside its own swimming pool, the hotel now boasts a golf course, a ski area and an in-house shopping complex. In 2019, to mark its 100th birthday, the Sonnenalp underwent a renovation under the management of the fourth generation, showcasing the resort in an entirely new light.

The basic lighting concept for the redesign was supplied by SLV. It emphasizes the warmth of the establishment and stages various areas within the resort.

From peak to peak - a broad perspective, from right at the summit

Even in the fourth generation, the Fäßlers' entrepreneurial vision has never been lost, culminating in an unbelievable five-star luxury holiday resort in a new guise. Anna-Maria and Michael Fäßler have continued the legacy of previous generations and are bringing the Sonnenalp to life, with a new, younger look. Consequently, both the exterior and the interior have been renovated and refurbished, giving the Sonnenalp a brand new look in which to celebrate its 100th birthday. In order to preserve the historic legacy and the many vintage treasures, the Sonnenalp has been laboriously refurbished. With sensitivity, creativity and loving attention to detail, Anna-Maria Fäßler, together with her husband, is responsible for the redesign of the traditional holiday residence. With an incredibly diverse range of natural materials, she is giving the resort a truly unique, natural and fresh facelift, complete with skilfully applied accent features - while always maintaining a focus on tradition in the process.

Over the years, 218 rooms and suites, restaurants, conference rooms and a considerable number of other areas have been renovated. A wellness park spanning 20,000 m² has been installed, and the dark outer façade has been softened with a brighter larch wood.Even in the fourth generation, the Fäßlers' entrepreneurial vision has never been lost, culminating in an unbelievable five-star luxury holiday resort in a new guise. Atmospheric light for a home away from home in the Allgäu

Set amongst nature, the impressive Sonnenalp Resort can be seen from some distance away. The moment you set foot inside the reception area, you feel right at home. When renovating the resort, every effort has been made to create a modern, yet cosy ambience. Bright wood elements, furnishing and objects made from natural materials, and a colour palette of beige, grey, white, red and other warm natural tones, give the new design concept a homely ambience. The lobby and the shopping arcade are illuminated with high-quality, intentionally positioned natural white recessed ceiling lights and subtle wall lights. In order to create special staging in important areas (steps, entrance area, the counter in the lobby, hallways), wall lights with a neutral white colour temperature have been used.

For long passageways and hallway areas, track systems are particularly well suited. These are flexible on account of the fact that a different lighting mood can be quickly achieved by replacing spots or pendant lights.

Kick back and relax in the cosy hotel rooms

Beginning with the basic lighting with recessed ceiling lights, through to the reading lights by the bed. In order that the guest can relax, work and sleep in his/her room without interruption, a suitable lighting environment is required. With dimmable recessed ceiling lights, the guest can decide for him/herself how bright or dark the room should be. Stylish wall lights provide additional illumination and comfort. There must also be sufficient lighting by the bed: our BEDSIDE lights are particularly suitable. The bedside and reading lights not only feature an elegant design but are also innovative and user-friendly. Thanks to the integrated USB connection and smartphone holder, the lights add a modern touch to any traditional room.

Wellness for young and old alike

During the construction of the 16,000m² wellness park, care was taken to achieve a balance between natural areas and human living spaces. Not only have a new pool area and a mountain lake been created, but sun decks and a nature spa for adults have also been installed. The indoor spa area has been extended to cover an area of 4,000 m², and a natural source garden with a separate water play area for children have Been added. The use of natural colours and materials is also clearly evident in the indoor wellness areas.Recessed ceiling lights with a specific IP protection class not only cast relaxed light onto the wooden accent features, but also create an exceptional atmosphere in conjunction with the warm colours of the wood and the recurring blue tones.Wall lights in the indoor and outdoor area likewise enable the creation of visual highlights.

Whether outdoors, in bath rooms, or in the spa ...

....pay attention to the correct IP protection class!
